Rooftop platforms/roof racks, rooftop tents, rooftop lights, rooftop exhaust vent modifications, etc., with some models even supporting factory-installed roof modifications or removable roofs.
I. Mainstream Rooftop Modification Types
Rooftop Platforms/Roof Racks
Used to support equipment such as tents, bicycles, sleds, and fuel cans.
Installation Notes:
The vehicle must have a factory-installed roof rack or be able to install crossbars;
Urban SUVs often have curved roofs, requiring dedicated brackets to avoid obstructing the sunroof;
Off-road vehicles (such as the BJ40 and Wrangler) have flat roofs, making them more suitable.
Rooftop Tents
Suitable for camping scenarios, no need to set up an additional tent, just park and move in.
Officially supported by models like the Jetour Traveler, safe installation is possible with a static load ≥100kg and a dynamic load ≥30kg.
Recommended choices: Products with a quick-deployment structure, IPX6 or higher waterproof rating, and a built-in moisture-proof mat.
Roof Light Modification
Commonly seen in hardcore off-road vehicles, enhancing nighttime lighting or warning effects.
Important Notes:
Must comply with local lighting regulations;
It is recommended to have this done by a professional shop to avoid the risks associated with electrical modifications.
Roof Exhaust Hose Modification (High Difficulty)
Launching the exhaust pipe to the roof increases wading depth, but this is a professional-level modification.
The exhaust system needs to be redesigned to ensure sealing and power matching; DIY is not recommended.
